Mothers Day 2009

I celebrated my second Mothers Day with Anna this weekend. It was a really good day. Kevin let me sleep in until 11!!! He and Anna woke me up and gave me a basket full of goodies, including gift cards to get a massage, manicure and pedicure, a bottle of wine, chocolate covered almonds and a big comfy Razorback blanket.

Kevin planned on taking me on a picnic but since it was raining, he made a picnic in the living room. Anna could not figure out why we were eating in the floor...

... but she loved eating my Doritos!

Later that day, we met Kevin's parents at MiMis' Cafe for dinner.
Here she is playing Peek-A-Boo!
All in all, it was a great mothers day and I am so honored to be this kids mom. Thank you Bananas for making Mothers Day, and every day, so special. I love you!

SUPER SWEET 16!

Anna turned 16 months old yesterday. It's almost like she's not a baby anymore, she's like a little girl. She's growing so fast and learning something new everyday. Here's what she's been up to:

1. Her favorite game is peek-a-boo.
2. She calls Kevin "da-da" and she calls me "Da-la". (Go figure! She's already calling me by my first name - GREAT!)
3. She pretty much eats anything except veggies. We still can't manage to trick her into those. Any advice?
4. She is an experienced walker now. She walks everywhere. Most of our evenings are spent watching her walk around the house, back and forth.
5. Her words are: dada, da-la, boo, wassat (what's that), shoe. There's more but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
6. She's comprehends everything. Even though she can't say the words, she understands what I'm saying. That amazes me.
7. The Look! I know I mentioned it in a previous post, but her Look is priceless. If she doesn't like what you tell her to do or if she doesn't know you very well, she will look at you like you are crazy. I can't help but crack up everytime.

Happy Sweet 16 Pooter Head! We love you!

Girl Talk

Kevin had to to work this past weekend so Anna and I took advantage of having a little girls time together. We don't get this alone time often so I was really looking forward to it. It started off with Miss Attitude (which according to Kevin, she gets from me.) This is Anna's new look, actually the picture doesn't do it justice. When she gets mad or doesn't like you telling her what to do, she furrows her brow and gives you a mean look... (ok, so maybe she does get that from me.) Kevin calls it my "red-itude", I changed it to "Anna-tude".

But the day got better. After a little shopping, we enjoyed some time outside with our sidewalk chalk.

Sunday was even more eventful. We got up and spent the morning finger painting. Anna is such a princess... she didn't like getting it on her hands. But eventually she got the hang of it.

 This is her masterpiece!
In the end, she ended up crawling all over her picture and getting it all over her clothes (but I was prepared for that). She even got paint on her face.

After finger paiting we went to the park and played on the playground. We even watched the geese on the lake. They surrounded us and Anna thought it was so funny to hear the geese "quack". After the park, we met daddy for lunch at Buffalo Grill. Yummy! Later that day, I hit the motherload! I bought this big ball for Anna and now she thinks I'm the best mom in the world! She LOVES this thing!

All in all, my weekend with Anna couldn't have been more perfect. We laughed, we played and there for a brief moment she went from Daddy's Girl to Mommy's Girl. :)

Arkansas Childrens Week

This week at Anna's daycare, they celebrated Arkansas Childrens Week. Each day they had special activities for the kids and they also had theme days.

Monday was pajama day and Anna looked too cute in her PJ's and bath robe! The bath robe was a size 0 -9 month, but it still fit... just a little short.

Tuesday was Tacky Day but I had trouble with this one. All of Anna's clothes are so cute so I didn't have anything to put her in. Instead I dressed her in a really cute top and jeans and decided she was going to be the opposite of tacky. I don't have a picture to show how cute she looked but she was C-U-T-E! On this day the kids got to see a firetruck, which is neat because her Papa is a retired fireman.

Wednesday was Sports Day and the kids got to wear their favorite sports team t-shirts. (I was surprised Kevin decided he wanted her to go in her Cubs t-shirt instead of a Razorback shirt.) This day was the day parents were invited to a picnic so Kevin and I went. The day was perfect for a picnic and Anna loved seeing us at her school.
Even Kevin got in on the fun and wore his Cubs shirt. :)
Side note: You know how most kids have a blankie or a favorite stuffed animal. Well Anna has a hat. She loves this hat and the other night, all she wanted to do was wear it. She wore it until she went to bed. She looks really cute in it too. :)
And finally, Friday was Teacher Appreciaition Day. The teachers got to wear casual clothes. I took this pic of Anna this morning because I thought she looked really cute in her white skirt and pigtails. Lord knows those pigtails won't be in her hair when I pick her up this afternoon!

Lindsey's Blog

Anna spent the evening with Uncle Greg, Aunt Laurie and Cousin Lindsey a few nights ago so Kevin and I could go out to dinner to celebrate his 34th birthday! (Old Man!) Click here to see pics of her visit..

Eggs To Dye For!

We spent Saturday night at my sisters house dying eggs. Anna was a pro, she knew exactly what she was doing! Avery and Jacie had a great time too.

These are the 4 eggs Anna did.

And this is her hand after the fact... that was fun to get off!

Look Who's Walking

It seems like overnight, Anna has become an official walker. For the past month she's been taking a few steps here and there but last night she decided it was time to put those legs to use. We were at some friends house and Anna was walking everywhere. What a show off! I love it! I am so incredibly proud of her and she amazes me everyday! I LOVE YOU BANANAS!

Hey Uncle Greg... like my shirt!!!

Here's some 15 month stats for you:
1. WALKING!!! :)
2. She talks a lot! She loves to babble and chatter about everything. No major words yet, at least none that I can make out.
3. She gives kisses.
4. She loves to eat and has gotten pretty good at feeding herself with a spoon. Her favorite things to eat are chicken nuggets, ravioli, cheese and yogurt. And of course fruit!
5. She moved up into a new daycare class. I think the kids in this new class have encouraged Anna to walk more... those kids would run all over her if she didn't try to keep up!

I know there's a lot more that she's doing but if I went on and on, this would be the world's longest blog post! We go to the doctor for her 15 month checkup this week so I'll keep you posted on her weight!

FYI...

Anna walked across the living room all by herself yesterday. Yay!!! Her longest journey to date!
For the record, she walked across the room without the help of this walker, but it was the only pic I had of her. :)
