The time had come for Anna to make her first visit to the dentist and she was pretty excited about it. In fact, the morning of her appointment, she insisted on wearing a dress, her crown, carry her purse and her wishing wand. She looked very pretty and everyone thought she looked so cute. Once we got to the dentist I was a little concerned about how she was going to react but she did GREAT! Our hygenist, Jeannie, was very good with her. She showed her all of the instruments they use to clean teeth and she even let Anna play with some of them. Anna did everything Jeannie told her to do and she was such a big girl.
We learned that Anna has a cross bite and we were told that she will have to start having dental work done at an early age. When the dentist said that, I was thinking 10 or 11, so I was shocked when he said 5 or 6! Geez! He also mentioned that the say-say (pacifier) was a contributing factor to her cross bite. Whoops! I knew we probably should've taken that away from her a long time ago but oh well, can't do anything about it now. But to not make it any worse, we decided to get rid of the say-say. We knew it wouldn't be an easy habit to break so we decided to do one thing every parent does to their child... LIE! We told Anna that the dentist asked to have all of her say-says so he could share them with little babies that needed them. She reluctantly agreed and let the babies have them. And just like that, the say-say was out of our lives forever. Who knew it would've been that easy!
Goodbye old friend... you've been a lifesaver to us all!
