Our summer vacation was spent with the Horras Family in Seaside, Florida this year. We went there two years ago with them and had such a great time that we decided this would be our vacation spot every year! If Kevin and I hadn't have gone to Jamaica in 2010, we most certainly would've been inn Seaside with the Horras'. We love it down there! And this time we decided to go the week of 4th of July. We got a house big enough for both families and we got our own private pool, perfect for the kids! Let the good times begin!
Here's Anna with her BFF's - Emery and Reed
Anna really put her swimming skills to use on this trip. She loved the water and those swimming lessons paid off!
Here she is asking Kevin to throw her in the air.
He can never resist.
But eventually his arms do wear out.
Emery lost her second tooth while we were on vacation!
We always wave our flags high and proud... American and Hogs of course.
Seaside had a big 4th of July Day parade one morning that went all the way down 30A, which was the road our house was on. We all went out there in our PJ's and watched, and the kids really racked up on beads and candy!
Here's Anna waiting on more candy to be thrown her way.
Emery and Reed... waiting on candy
Here's Anna rocking her 4th of July sunglasses that she got from the parade.
And here she is rocking her 4th of July bathing suit! Too cute!
It's never 4th of July without a good fireworks show and we definitely did our fair share of fireworks! Sparklers galore!
MeMe and Granddad bought the kids glow sticks for the trip and the kids couldn't wait to open them. They were a big hit.
Being in Florida during 4th of July was a special treat because we were able to sit on the beach and watch several different fireworks shows that were going on all along the coastline. We could see fireworks from Destin to Panama City! It was quite a site!
Darla and Paige, with our best friend Pinot Grigio!
One morning we decided to go to Alys Beach to get donuts from the donut truck and let the kids play at a cute little playground they have there.
The playground has this huge mound with a trail that leads to the top. If I had a dollar for every time these kids walked up this hill I'd be a rich lady.
"Look Ma! I made it to the top!"
One bad part about our trip was the seaweed. This year was the worst year any of us had ever seen seaweed so bad. The ocean was green, not the crystal clear blue that I've grown up with. And the beaches were covered in seaweed that had washed up on shore. Needless to say, we did not spend a lot of time "in" the ocean, but we did do our fair share of burying people in the sand and building sand castles.
We gave Kevin boobies!
Reed too! :)
One of our favorite things to do, besides swim in the pool, was taking the kids into Seaside to get ice cream or sno cones. It was definitely HOT down there so this was always a perfect snack for everybody.
Awwww... Anna and Reed sharing a dessert. Is it a match made in heaven?
Well, he did take her hand and walk her out to the dance floor at this restaurant and started dancing with her. He's such a gentleman. ;)
This was our last day on the beach so I wanted to get a few shots before we headed back to the great state of Arkansas.
Here's Anna saying "Bye bye beach"
It really was a great trip and we had such a good time with the Horras family. It's nice to be able to travel with another family and still come back friends! Thanks Eric and Paige for a fun vacation. We look forward to doing it again next year.
Thank you Kevin for taking me and Anna on such a great trip. We appreciate everything you do for us and we appreciate you getting us there and back in one piece.
