School Picnic

It's been a month since I've put any updates about Anna on here so I thought I'd take some time to catch up.  This day was the day all the parents were invited to the school for a picnic.  Anna's school does this every year and Kevin and I really enjoy it.  And Anna enjoys it too!

Honk! Honk!

As Anna and I were making our way home in 5 o'clock traffic the other day, someone got a little bit of road rage.  (I'm not sure where she gets it!:)  I thought it was hilarious and I think you will too.

Princess Playtime!

Anna's new favorite thing to do is play dress-up.  Lately, as soon as we walk in the house, she wants to put on a princess dress, the shoes, the crown and a wishing wand.  And it's hard to get her to wear anything else!   Who can blame her? Look how cute she is, even when she's casting an evil spell on you!

FYI... we took Anna in for her 3 year old checkup (yes, I realize we're a little late).  She weighed 29 pounds and was 3 feet tall.  Doctor said she's right on track with her age and she's doing great!

Anna's First Visit to the Dentist

The time had come for Anna to make her first visit to the dentist and she was pretty excited about it.  In fact, the morning of her appointment, she insisted on wearing a dress, her crown, carry her purse and her wishing wand.  She looked very pretty and everyone thought she looked so cute.  Once we got to the dentist I was a little concerned about how she was going to react but she did GREAT!  Our hygenist, Jeannie, was very good with her.  She showed her all of the instruments they use to clean teeth and she even let Anna play with some of them.  Anna did everything Jeannie told her to do and she was such a  big girl.

We learned that Anna has a cross bite and we were told that she will have to start having dental work done at an early age.  When the dentist said that, I was thinking 10 or 11, so I was shocked when he said 5 or 6!  Geez!  He also mentioned that the say-say (pacifier) was a contributing factor to her cross bite.  Whoops!  I knew we probably should've taken that away from her a long time ago but oh well, can't do anything about it now.  But to not make it any worse, we decided to get rid of the say-say.  We knew it wouldn't be an easy habit to break so we decided to do one thing every parent does to their child... LIE!  We told Anna that the dentist asked to have all of her say-says so he could share them with little babies that needed them.  She reluctantly agreed and let the babies have them.  And just like that, the say-say was out of our lives forever.  Who knew it would've been that easy!

Goodbye old friend... you've been a lifesaver to us all!

Like My Hat?

Anna's not a big fan of hats but the other day she decided to put this one on.  I thought it was cute so I took a few pictures.  Enjoy!

Wye Mountain 2011

We continued our tradition of going to Wye Mountain to see the daffodils, and this time we had company.  Grammy and Poppy came into town to spend the day with us so they joined us for our little photo shoot.  Unfortunately the photo shoot did not go as planned.  Anna was tired and being a toot so trying to take her picture was near impossible.  Between my camera and Grammy's camera, neither of us got a great one, but hey, we tried.  I did get a lot of the back of her head, see...

Eventually she sat down long enough for us to take a few shots but smiling was NOT on her agenda!
Oh Wow!  She smiled!  Hurry!  Take the picture!
And now she's back to not smiling.
So what does a parent do when they try to get their kid to do what they want them to do?  Bribe them with ice cream!!!  Attention Everyone: You are now entering the Smile Zone.

She even let Poppy take a picture with us.
And soon after she was over it and ready for ice cream.
"Come on Mommy!  Let's go get ice cream."
